Before we ever took our children abroad, Patrick created a ten-year travel plan designed to expose them to different cultures, languages, and ways of seeing the world. Looking back, that plan led all three of our children to study abroad and may have been the best investment we ever made in them.

Nine years after our first visit, we returned to Croatia and Montenegro to find two destinations that are every bit as beautiful as we remembered, but noticeably different. From Michelin-starred dining in Dubrovnik to waterfront walks in Dobrota and day trips around the Bay of Kotor, this trip reminded us why the Adriatic is so special and why some destinations are best experienced before the rest of the world catches on.

Our annual family trip took us to Kauai, where dramatic coastlines, world-class golf, and a memorable catamaran cruise along the Na Pali Coast reminded us why Hawaii remains such a special destination. Even though heavy rains disrupted some of our plans, including visits to Waimea Canyon and Hanalei, the trip became less about the itinerary and more about enjoying time together with our adult children.

We’ve been to Rome six times, and after bringing friends along on four of those trips, this is the exact three-day itinerary we keep coming back to. It’s simple, efficient, and captures everything you want to feel about Rome without overcomplicating it.
